The nano car from Tata
March 2nd, 2008 Posted in englishIt’s not that long ago when the news in Germany informed about that car manufacturer called Tata from India and their new project “Nano” which caused many “important” and imperialistic people to raise their fingers as they’ve seen a serious threat because of the price which is even low when you import that car to Europe. To my knowledge the lowest price for that car here in Europe and especially Germany is around 3400 EUR. The original price is around 1700 EUR or 2500 USD. In the press they spread a lie that importing the Nano would make it as expensive as other cheap cars like the Dacia Logan (coop. between Dacia and Renault) which was defaced in the first run as well but then accepted by many people and in the end a success to Renault so they are planning for more cars like that.
So if Tata really would start to sell this car here in Germany officially I believe they would cash in on it and just because many people actually are looking for a car that fulfills a modern emission standard, is low on gas consumption, offers room for more than 2 people and which is cheap at the same time. That’s exactly what the Nano is offering. Plus the Nano is simple in technology, has hardly electrical components that can fail and is probably easy to repair.
So what’s the catch about the Nano from Tata? There is none! You get what you pay for and that’s simply “cheap”. Cheap in any aspect and that’s what a specific group even here in Germany needs.
I’m not sure if you are aware what’s going on here in Germany but in general you need a car to get some kind of job and for many people this requirement is simply too expensive so most people purchase and buy their cars on credit. Many people probably are working just to survive the current month and that can’t be the goal of ones life, right? Fact is that the times of a car being just a luxury “enjoyment” are over. A car nowadays is a utility which is demanded by the imperialistic companies.
I remember a situation with my old job where my car, an old Audi 80 from 1990, stopped to work and debared me from “driving” to my work that was 70km away from my home. This problem forced me to bring the car to a repair shop and I lasted quite some time to arrange all that to make sure to get my car repaired as quickly as possible, so as it already was late I asked my boss to give me this one day to care about the car and then he said that I need to come as quickly as possible and he doesn’t care how I am going to realize that and he even gave the suggestion to take a cab. I then started to be goatish because it made absolutely no sense. First it was late so even when I’d took the train I would only be able to work for an hour or so and I got absolutely nothing special to do. And second the car would still be broken. And taking a cab would make no sense at all as I then would work for nothing as my earnings there was “just” at “400 EUR” a month. Do you see the problem? Earning 400 EUR, in the need of owning a car and still not good enough. And what really makes me thinking nowadays is that I felt guilty not be able to arrive at work! I was so stupid at that time :P.
So what’s my talking all about? A car?
Well, I’m a young man born in the German Democratic Republic (GDR/DDR) and I grew up in the Federal Republic of Germany and though I am young I can say that my life in the 90′ies was so much better and I’m not talking about having a car or having a huge amount of money. No, I’m talking about a change I am noticing. Germany was a rich nation and many people still believe it is but it’s definitely not anymore because it’s changing. In the news they said that the economical growth is increasing month after month but still many people ask “where?”. That’s true…the companies make their money but at the same time they decapitate their employees and existent worker don’t even think to get more money because they could lose their jobs. So the big companies are getting richer and richer and the employees poorer and poorer. So in one way this procedure IS the economical growth…for the companies and for the country but not directly for the people. It’s crackbrained because the mass is starting to act like ants: No matter what happens, they still would do their job.
Having the Nano car many people in Germany would be able to lower their cash disbursements for this requirement and this in return will make their life in that country a little bit more comfortably as they would save some more money.
My conclusion: Nano you are welcome :).
And last but not least some pictures of the “cute” Nano.
